The farmshop boosts a selection of home made jams, preserves, rusks, biscuits and chocolates. Cafe Artesia our bakery – bakes artisanal breads every Saturday and Sunday. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating with a warm fire going in the chilly winter. Lovely Restaurant and Shopping Alert 😊South Africa’s feted Route 62 runs from Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape to Cape Town. It is a pleasant meander through picturesque little towns with a rich histories.Montagu is a one of the towns on this route and the Rambling Rose is a delightful discovery in the town. It comes highly recommended by the locals (I got the tip from a local man with a delightful shop with “Quirky things” in the town center, opposite an art gallery and antiques shop).The Rambling Rose looks beautiful from the outside – the geraniums were in full spring glory, and the old carriage stood sentinel to the right of the porch. Inside was a lovely surprise with the establishment stretching deeper and further inwards than one would anticipate.The outside area at the back is a beautiful secret garden- like dining in a mini rain forest- I’d recommend that to any nature lover. The Siberian husky from next door Sasha, is big and friendly – utterly harmless.The menu is delightfully hand-scribbled on a board- small town authentic 😉For burger lovers, I’d recommend the Rambling Rose Burger – could really taste the meaty essence of the patty better. The Burger Special was also quite good- but the RR burger was more aligned with my taste buds. Different strokes, different folks.Prices were reasonable and listed on the menu- see the included picture 😊Parking: Ample off-street parking lot located on the right side of the building. Also street parking for about 7 vehicles.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair access may be restricted in some parts of the shopping aisles due to the width of the aisles. Dining area ample

A fantastic hidden gem in Montagu on the main road as on enters the twon from Ashton direction. They have a good selection of well priced food, beverages, and of course waffles. I would recommend you ask for source on the side as they are not shy and it can be a bit much with certain source options. Do note that they heat the plates up which makes everything melt really quickly, I would ask for a cold plate in future. There is inside and outside seating and there is free parking off street parking at the side of the building.Highly recommended

I absolutely loved this place. Stumbled across it by chance on holiday recently. Went back 3 times. Homemade cakes and breads were just amazing. A lovely family run business with lots of fresh homemade goodies.

Lovely place. Nice lunch menu. The glass of wine was decently filled, not half a glass like you get in some places. Service was good and staff friendly. I had the baked camembert, an additional slice of bread would have been nice.

Where great waffles, dogs that walk on walls and peaceful vibes are found… also 33 degrees outside and it’s still cool at the Rambling Rose.After a long morning at the crag this restaurant offers the ideal hideaway from the elements in their sheltered garden. The service is fantastic and the waffles are top class. Beware, they are big and sweet!Such a great spot I give it 5 stars (and I don’t hand these out lightly.

This was the best restaurant. The breakfast was amazing as was the service thanks to the awesome waiter James 😊 his energy and smiles really uplifted our mood. I definitely recommend this place. Freshly baked bread.

Excellent service Excellent food. A must stop on your next drive by…. Great atmosphere. Try their home made ginger beer and freshly made cakes and breads.
