Sopra – Just a short, delightfully scenic drive from Capetown to Scarborough is a relatively new Italian restaurant on the first floor of The Village Hub. We visited SOPRA restaurant on a Cape Winter’s day. The deck must be a feast on a summersday.The relatively small menu comprises of an interesting variety of Italian dishes.We found the staff welcoming and enthusiastic! With a huge smile, the busy ‘chief chef’, Patrick Maqhawe, introduced himself to us.We ordered three different dishes from menu. Each one bursting with interesting flavours.I had a scrumptious dish of Sicilian style, pan fried salmon, served with green beans.My friends enjoyed the handmade butternut potato ravioli with Napolitano sauce.We shared an amazing Finocachio salad, comprising of roasted fennel, orange, avo and rocker salad drenched in thyme vinaigrette.I believe that the pizza dough is fermented for 24 hours to add the special quality needed for extraordinary quality.This restaurant is highly recommended.

Absolutely devine butternut ravioli with burnt sage butter. Incredibly tasty food and a very relaxed, warm and cozy atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening, will definitely be back again. Well done Tony. 👏

The vegan homemade butternut potato ravioli is outstanding! Without a doubt the best pasta in Cape Town. Ordered it with a mixed salad. Goes beautifully together. Friend ordered the fish and loved it to. Great place! Service was excellent as well. Thank you!

We had the most amazing lunch experience at Sopra during our visit. Our New Frontiers tour guide Lizell arranged for a private tasting lunch with Tony, the owner of Sopra. Each item was better than the next and we enjoyed the terrific South African wines he paired with the food. Some of our favorite foods were the mussels, calamari, butternut raviolis, gnocchi in a meat ragu, the line fish prepared with green beans and tomatoes, and the margarita pizza. Tony was a pure delight and we highly recommend everyone to give Sopra a try, as well as exploring the Forager market below!

A great italian restaurant with warm atmisphere. We had the musseles, ragu and napolitana, all were superb. Deserts are a must.

This restaurant is an absolute gem! Our book club had our end of year dinner there and were given 5 star treatment. The food is excellent Italian fare, the absolute best risotto I’ve had anywhere in South Africa. The staff is friendly, efficient and clearly enjoy working for Toni, the owner. I am so excited to have finally found a local Italian worth another visit. Sopra is a wonderful addition to the Southern Peninsula dining experience and if I had to move further away, I would still make a trip to this charming restaurant.

Always searching special places where you arrive hungry and leave feeling part of the furniture!Upstairs open plan with a cooling sea breeze and views of the Atlantic over the milkwood (noted the wood burners for the winter!). The staff and super welcoming and all have a story to tell it feels like a family.The owner and chef both came to our table to help with the choice of food a menu inspired by the owners seaside Itialian up bringing and a chef with a smile that shows off his passion and if you dine here go and find out some of the secrets behind his dishes. Made it taste much more yummy knowing the TLC that had been put into menu.Highly recommended the local beer as well.New Fav for sure…
