Another fish and chip shop and another review from me.As per my other reviews I love a good fish and chip meal.First impressions on entering the shop were really good. Lovely clean counter and cooking area. Couple that with two lovely ladies cooking and serving.Ordered two large cod and chips. I was shown the fish prior to frying and they were huge. I was asked if I wanted chips with both or one portion to share. I did opt for two portions and they were good sized.Fish was absolutely superb. Light crispy batter and great chips. An absolute credit to the Great British Fish and Chips.I have no hesitation in recommending this great establishment. If travelling north or south on the M1 it’s worth making the short detour to sample this great food.

I have relatives in the area who I can fortunately visit again now that COVID is under control. A trip to Kimberley always involves coming to this chippy which is by far the best locally. Two haddock + one chips = £14.The two of us couldn’t finish the ONE chips, there was so much!Service was NOT quick – because the fresh haddock were produced then battered and after cooked – which was fine by me. No warmed up rubbish here.

Great staff who are always very cherry. Frying consistently the very best fish and chips that you could ever wish for. I travel several miles regularly to partake of their fabulous food. Would I recommend. Oh yes indeed I would.Kid-friendliness: They love kids here and have a menu tailored for their needsParking: Free car parks less than two minutes walk. Also on street parking as wellWheelchair accessibility: Direct access from the street with no steps to negotiate.

Managed to make it just before their closing time. Ordered the Cod & chips; the fish which is cooked well with very light batter and the chips is tasty as well! The food is prepared fresh and cooked at right temperature that’s why is not too oily. For sure will visit again soon

Absolutely beautiful. Fish, chips, peas and gravy. It was amazing. I Highly recommend it is by far the best ever chippy I have been to and I have tried many in my time.Cannot fault anything chips was fresh so tasty, quality food you can tell. Outstanding 5* certainly applies at olde english chippy in kimberley on James Street. The staff is very friendly and the owner seems to take pride in what she does there was about 5 of us waiting for fish I could hear people saying put me a large fish in. I had a standard and that was big enough so might have to try a large next time to be greedy . I took a photo I will post it on here.Excellent once again! thankyou

Excellent food, the staff are amazing at what they do and very friendly .We have a order from here every week on a Tuesday for all 10 of us and can honestly say it is 1 of the best fish and chips we have ever tasted. Just read the review from cyber ghost about white sausage and we have never ever got a white sausage on our order, the food you serve is 5* as that is why we come. The chips are absolutely the finest potato’s going, not to mention how delicious your haddock and cod is they are massive. Keep doing what your doing as your reviews are obviously 5* and your food shows it.Thankyou we will be back next week .

Q Hi. I love the fish and chips from here, however I have recently needed to change to a gluten free diet. I was just wondering if you would consider have an option of gluten free battered fish and chips for at specified times?

Hi Zoe we do have a couple of people who are gluten free and once we have emptied the pans to put fresh fat in I give them a call and they can eat chips but unfortunately we don't sell enough gluten free to buy batter in, it would go out of date but what I can suggest is you could bring your own batter mix in which a customer has brought me in before I've mixed it up and cooked him fish and chips .
We put new fat in about every 3 to 4 weeks you could pop in to the chippy and give us your number so I can give you a call once changed.
It will need to have non gluten free food cooked in it that day as we are a busy chip shop and need all 3 pans so would be great if you could call in when i let you know within a couple of days notice in advance for you in case you want fish and chips for dinner that day 😁
thankyou zoe hope this helps
