This was the worst experience we have ever had at an OB. We love visiting them wherever we go. But we regret going to OB Newcastle. And will never return. First the kingklip I received was not a piece of fish. It was off cuts. The thickets of which was half a cm thick. It was about 9 pieces of skin and rubber that I was served. Honestly I would not feed my dog that. I did not eat it. Only ate the rice, did not want to make a scene. We should have left but to our own detriment we ordered desert. Ordered 2 x ice cream with decadent sauce. And we’re served 2 milkshakes. When complaining about this. We were told their mistake was they should have given us a straw as well. No your mistake was you served us the wrong item. Anyway we sent it back and said we want to leave. When receiving our bill it had the items we sent back still on it… we then said no we will not pay for something that we did not receive. This escalated and the waitress kept on bringing person after person that was supposed to be the manager. But it turned out none of them were. When after this entire thing had gone on for more than 20 min the actual manager finally was brought to our table and it was finally sorted out. Worst service ever. Worst food ever. Wish I could rate zero start. But Google insists on at least one…….

This was a very surprised quick visit to Newcastle. Food were extremely fresh and good on the pallet. The big greeting,after nearly 25 years, we recognized one of their waitrons, that worked with our children when they first started working at the Spur in Harrismith. He remembered my husband by name and our youngest son too and he asked about them both. I was very touched, that he told his colleagues about us and brought them to greet me and my daughter in law.

Brilliant food and service. They took careful measures when it came to applying their COVID19 policy, and still managed to make our experience a comfortable and fun one. Thank you to our waiter, JB for being friendly and efficient. Newcastle’s OB seems to be consistent in its wonderful service and delicious meals.
