Had the pleasure of dining there last nite. Thebeautiful setting of this establishment overseeingthe ocean. Beautiful venue and warm welcomefrom staff. The food from starters to main courseand dessert was so incredibly delicious. Thepresentation of each serving or dish soprofessionally done, you feel like royalty. Perfectspot for family and couples wishing to dine out.Recommend Wednesdays nite for the 4 coursemeal special for 2. Definitely going back.

Got a quick lunch (and it was prepared quick indeed), the food was great, and the presentation thereof was a refreshing change from. The atmosphere at the restaurant is very relaxed, with a great view of the ocean, and staff that are both friendly and helpful. Overall I was left very satisfied with the experience.

My son who is fussy polished it off declaring their triple fried chips the BEST EVERThe staff weee welcoming and friendly despite being unexpectedly busier than they had planned for.This is the perfect spot to kick back, enjoy some great food and a spectacular view

I was heartbroken when we were forced to cancel our lunch reservation at The Hickory Shack, Elgin in September. I had been looking forward to it for so long. Much to my delight I discovered that I could drive a few kilometres from home in the Southern Suburbs and enjoy the same smoked gorgeousness at Deep South Eatery in Glencairn. I was not disappointed.The warmth of the staff, the views from the terrace, the attentive waitress, the efficiency of the service was overshadowed only by the yummiest food! Pulled pork tacos rendered me speechless. I wrestled my husband for a mouthful of his melt in the mouth brisket.The management flitted in and around to ensure that all was well and never appeared intrusive. My photo-taking and wandering about to take a good look around was met with gracious smiles. I thank you for an amazing afternoon and the recipe for the Chatanooga Cheesecake would make me even happier! Hats off, Deep South Eatery / The Hickory Shack management and team. I will be back!

I went to this establishment when it was previously a hotel. The transformation to Deep South Eatery is night and day. Excellent service, helpful and knowledgeable staff, and delicious food. We tucked into a sushi platter and were blown away by the flavour. Perfect portion size, great taste. We finished off the meal with coffee on the balcony. A great view. I’ll be back again.

My wife and had lunch at this restaurant today and had a really good experience. The chef, Thando, came and chatted to us and was obviously passionate about what he was doing. It was good to have a meal that wasn’t spoilt with MSG being added. My steak was well aged and cooked exactly as ordered. The battered hake was also well prepared. I have no doubt this establishment will continue to be a success and I highly recommend the restaurant.

Beautiful place. Great kids facilities and the views of the ocean is amazing. Food options are plenty, but the smokehouse experience is something everyone should do.
